Equine Therapy
Through guided work with horses, clients are invited into a safe, attuned space where deeper awareness, renewed connection, and meaningful personal transformation can unfold.

Equine therapy offers a unique and experiential path toward healing and recovery. Through guided interactions with horses, clients are invited to deepen awareness of their emotions, nervous system responses, and patterns of relating. Horses naturally respond to what is happening beneath the surface, creating space for insight, regulation, and healing in a safe and attuned environment. A growing body of research suggests that equine therapy may support reductions in trauma-related distress, PTSD symptoms, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation, particularly when offered within a trauma-informed therapeutic framework. When integrated with Internal Family Systems (IFS), this process can gently support clients in becoming more aware of the parts of themselves that hold pain, protection, fear, and longing.
At The Niagara Centre for Healing and Recovery, equine therapy is offered through the lens of trauma-informed care, relational healing, and interpersonal neurobiology. In the presence of the horse, clients are invited into a safe and attuned environment where emotions, nervous system responses, and relational patterns can be explored with greater awareness and compassion. Horses often mirror what words cannot fully express, creating space for insight, grounding, trust, and meaningful emotional connection.
