AI Dependency & Attachment —tending to the wounds beneath the bond
AI dependency or attachment occurs when individuals begin relying on artificial intelligence for emotional comfort, validation, companionship, decision-making, or relief from loneliness and distress. What may start as helpful or convenient can gradually become a primary source of regulation especially for those carrying unresolved trauma, attachment wounds, social anxiety, or chronic feelings of disconnection. Over time, the technology becomes less about productivity and more about soothing unmet relational and nervous system needs.

Without addressing the deeper attachment longings and emotional pain driving this reliance, attempts to simply limit screen time or reduce usage often fail. By focusing on the underlying trauma, relational patterns, and dysregulated nervous system states beneath AI attachment, therapy strengthens secure connection, emotional resilience, and embodied self-trust. This root-focused approach restores the capacity for healthy human relationships and supports sustainable, balanced engagement with technology.
