Complex Trauma

Complex trauma refers to prolonged exposure to multiple or repeated traumatic events, often occurring in childhood or within relationships, leading to deep emotional wounds, trust issues, and mental health challenges that require specialized therapeutic intervention for healing. At The Niagara Centre for Healing & Recovery we assess and strategically treatment plan the symptoms of post traumatic stress, dissociation, and the somatization of trauma.

Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD)

Treating PTSD with IFS (Internal Family Systems) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy combines powerful techniques to heal trauma by addressing both emotional and cognitive wounds. IFS helps individuals process internal conflicts and unburden traumatic parts of themselves, while EMDR reprocesses distressing memories, reducing PTSD symptoms and fostering long-term recovery.

Dissociative Identity Disorder (OSDD/DID)

Treating OSDD (Other Specified Dissociative Disorder) and DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) with IFS (Internal Family Systems) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps individuals integrate fragmented parts of themselves and heal from dissociative trauma. IFS addresses the different identities or "parts" by fostering communication and understanding, while EMDR targets traumatic memories to reduce dissociation and promote emotional healing.
